We Are Handsome

One of the highlights of MBFWA (Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia), We Are Handsome is the label of two Australian designers, Indhra Chagoury and Jeremy J Somers. The label started in 2009 and they create beautiful swimwear in bold, bright, eye-catching prints. At the 2012 MBFWA they also showcased some gorgeous flowing skirts alongside the trademark swimwear, leggings and short dresses. This is a not a label for shrinking violets, as you are sure to be seen when wearing these gorgeous creations. Here are some of their campaign shots for the 2012 ‘The Romantic’ collection, shot by She is Frank in Miami.

Bags fit for a Queen

Two iconic British bag designers have paid tribute to the upcoming Diamond Jubilee by creating special bags celebrating the occasion. You can find the bespoke Maud clutch bag at Anya Hindmarch. This little beauty comes in 6 exclusive Jubilee shades – silver, emerald, fuchsia, plum, midnight and black (I’ll have fuchsia or midnight please!). You can also have your initial embroidered on the outside, and a name or personalised message inside. On top of all that, it comes with a paper tiara and instructions on how to wave like the queen. Perfection. The queue for this little gem starts behind me!

Mulberry also have a Jubilee special. They are releasing 3 of their most popular, classic bags with a very British twist; the metal plaque will feature a Union Jack rather than the usual Mulberry tree. The bags are the Bayswater, Lily and Pouch, and they will go on sale from May 31st. In addition, the lining of each bag will be a special print consisting of the Mulberry tree, a heart and a Union Jack, signifying that Mulberry loves Britain.

Inspiration: Chelsea Flower Show

Here are some of the best floral looks around, inspired by sights like this

and this

seen on a recent visit to Sloane Square during the Chelsea Flower Show.

When wearing floral prints, it’s best to keep everything else simple (unless you’re feeling brave enough to clash your prints). So if you choose floral trousers or a skirt, pair them with a neutral top and simple accessories. Pair a dress with plain shoes in a complimenting colour, as demonstrated in the MSGM look. Floral shoes can make an outfit pop. For more inspiration, get down to Chelsea and see the amazing floral displays!

This is how I style my H&M floral print trousers. I paired them with a simple Zara shirt and River Island shoes.

MET Ball 2012 – Best Dressed

1. Diane Kruger in Prada

This dress is absolutely amazing! It is the perfect choice for the MET ball, a night of high fashion and dramatic looks. The whole look is simply perfection – stunning dress, relaxed hair and make up so as not to draw attention away from said dress, a complimentary colour of clutch, and a beautiful, simple but bold necklace to bring it all together. Well done Diane.

2. Solange Knowles in Rachel Roy

Solange is working both the peplum trend and yellow trend in this gorgeous silk dress. The colour is so lovely against her skin tone. I love how the big hair contrasts with the slim silhouette of the dress.

3. Camilla Belle in Ralph Lauren

An example of classic red carpet glamour but with a modern edge given by Camilla’s choice of lipstick. The dress hints at the 20s, a key trend at the minute, and flatters her figure. It isn’t the most fashion forward look, but you can never go wrong with a classic.

4. Emma Stone in Lanvin

I love this dress! It is absolutely adorable and looks so good on Emma. The embellishment work is beautiful and the colour is very complimentary on her. I like the lack of jewellery, but had I been wearing/styling this look, I would have added a dress watch or bold ring, just for a bit more detail.

5. Karlie Kloss in Jason Wu

This look is a winner mostly because of Karlie’s make up. In a sea of dark, gothic lips, her choice of fuschia lipstick stands out in a very good way. I love her lilac eye make up as well. Needless to say, the dress is stunning and she pulls it off very well.

Close but not quite: Cara Delevingne in Burberry

The dress is absolutely beautiful – I always love a full skirt, and the cowl neck is very elegant – however, the gloves let her down. They look out of place to me. I imagine the idea was to juxtapose the tough studded gloves with her ladylike, sophisticated dress, in an effort to make it younger and more fresh but unfortunately she doesn’t quite pull it off. I love her make up and hair though!
